Up to Feety's Place

Who Am I, Really?

The subject of personality types came up in a discussion the other day, and the Meyers-Briggs personality profile naturally got mentioned. You've probably seen it before... you answer a bunch of questions, score the test, and find out what kind of person you are, whether think-y or feel-y, pragmatic or idealistic. I've taken tests like this before, and typically end up on the "think-y" side of the spectrum. (The idea that a person can be quantified in such a way sometimes rubs me the wrong way... I don't like the thought of being so easily quantifiable, and being lumped in a general category with lots of other people. On the other hand, as long as one takes the results with a grain of salt, it can be interesting to see what they are.)

On a lark, I decided to take it again, to see if there had been any noticeable changes. (I feel pretty much the same as I always have, but how can I know for sure unless somebody else tells me?) But, of course, this being the Web, things are not quite as easy as they first seem. Before taking the test, I had to find it. A quick search for "Meyers-Briggs" turns up over 1500 matches, and "personality test" yields over 6000. Perseverance pays off, however, and I finally found what I was looking for: the Keirsey Temperament Sorter. In the process of winnowing through the matches, I realized that I need not constrain myself to just one personality test... I could take two, or three, or---dare I think the thought---I could take every personality test on the Web!

Then sanity returned.

Then, almost as abruptly, it left again.

So now I've taken it upon myself to take as many of the personality tests as I can find. I'll post all of my results here, and include links to the tests themselves, and commentary when the mood strikes me. (Having re-taken the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, I now remember all of the problems I had with it the first time. But more on that with the results themselves.)

If you know of a test I've missed, please drop me a line. I can't promise that I'll get around to it immediately, but I'm a curious enough cat to at least go have a look-see.

Enough with all this chit-chat... to the tests!
